Weekly Prize Offer
By popular demand — the weekly prize is back! The winning team each week receives a round of drinks and a free pizza, redeemable the following Monday at Whittletaps Cheltenham.
Eligibility
- The prize is awarded to the team that finishes 1st place on the night.
- The prize must be redeemed the following Monday during the quiz (not on any other day).
- The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- If the winning team does not attend the following week, the prize is forfeited.
Drinks
The round of drinks is limited to one drink per person who was present on the winning team the previous week. For example, if the winning team had 3 people the previous week, only 3 drinks are eligible the following week.
Included
- Soft Drink
- Single & Mixer
- Pint of Lager or Cider (including Guinness)
Not included
- Craft Beers
- Double Spirit & Mixer
- Cocktails
Pizza
- One free pizza per winning team.
- The pizza cannot be a ‘Create Your Own’ pizza.
- Subject to availability on the night.
Rollover Jackpot
- The jackpot grows every week as a slice of each player’s £1 entry rolls in.
- The jackpot can only be hit on the wheel round on quiz night.
- If nobody lands it, the full amount rolls over to the following week’s quiz.
£300 Jackpot Rule
If the jackpot stands at £300 or more, the following week’s quiz becomes a MUST-WIN Jackpot Night.
- £150 must be won on the Must-Win night. The normal jackpot game is replaced by the £150 Must-Win wheel.
- The Must-Win wheel carries 10 cash prizes: 4×£5, 3×£10, 2×£25 and 1×£50.
- Each prize is removed from the wheel once won, a team can win only one Must-Win prize, and the wheel keeps spinning until the full £150 has been awarded.
- Whatever remains in the jackpot rolls over to the following week’s quiz.
- Example: if the jackpot stands at £308 after a normal night, the following week is a Must-Win night — £150 is guaranteed to be won and £158 rolls over. If the pot drops back below £300, the normal rollover wheel continues.
Monthly Prizes
- 1st place for the month receives half of the entry fees collected for that month.
- 2nd place receives a £30 bar tab.
- The bar tab must be used on the last Monday of the month or the first Monday of the following month.
- The Quizmaster and the pub may extend the 2nd place prize under certain circumstances.
- Monthly prizes are separate from and do not affect the weekly prize.
General
- A Whittle Quiz and Whittletaps Cheltenham reserve the right to amend or withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice.
- In the event of a dispute, the decision of the quiz master is final.
- This offer is available only to teams playing A Whittle Quiz at Whittletaps Cheltenham.
Cash Handling
Cash collected during the event will be held securely on the venue’s premises while the quiz is in progress. The Quizmaster will take reasonable care in safeguarding cash but accepts no liability for loss arising from theft, robbery, fraud or other events beyond their reasonable control.
Cheating, Fair Play & Enforcement
Outside Assistance
- Players must not use mobile phones, smartwatches, smart glasses (including Meta/Ray-Ban or similar devices), headphones, internet searches, AI tools, reference materials, recording or communication devices, or any other form of outside assistance to obtain or assist with answers during the quiz.
Other Teams & Spectators
- Teams must not obtain answers from, deliberately share answers with, or receive assistance from other teams, spectators, venue staff or any other third party. Unsolicited answers shouted out by individuals who are not taking part in the quiz will not, on their own, be treated as cheating by a team. The Quizmaster and the venue will address those individuals’ behaviour to prevent disruption and keep the quiz fair for everyone.
Investigations
- The Quizmaster reserves the right to investigate suspected cheating or other conduct which may compromise the fairness or integrity of the quiz. Where appropriate and lawfully permitted, this may include reviewing information available from the quiz system and requesting that the venue review relevant CCTV footage.
Penalties & Bans
- Where the Quizmaster reasonably believes that cheating has occurred, they may void individual answers, deduct points, disqualify a team from a round or the entire quiz, withhold or withdraw eligibility for prizes, or exclude individuals or teams from future quizzes.
- Serious or repeated breaches may result in a temporary or permanent ban from participating in quizzes operated by the Quizmaster. Such breaches may also be referred to Whittle Taps Cheltenham, which may separately impose a temporary or permanent ban from the venue.
Legitimate Device Use
- Use of a device for an unrelated and legitimate purpose will not automatically constitute cheating. However, players may be asked to put away or stop using any device where its use could reasonably undermine the fairness or perceived integrity of the quiz.
Quizmaster Decisions
- The Quizmaster’s decision regarding scoring, cheating, disqualification and quiz participation is final, subject to any rights which cannot lawfully be excluded.
Review of a Ban
- Anyone who believes they have been unfairly banned from participating in quizzes operated by the Quizmaster may request a review by emailing appeals@awhittlequiz.co.uk.
- Requests should include the individual or team name, the date of the incident and the reasons the decision should be reconsidered. The Quizmaster will review the circumstances and any relevant information before confirming, reducing or removing the ban.
- Any ban imposed separately by Whittle Taps Cheltenham is a matter for the venue and cannot be overturned by the Quizmaster.
